LHS SoccerMy sophomore year I decided to try out for the soccer team and I made it to JV. It wasn't such a great season but it definitely was memorable. My junior year I made it to Varsity and we had a better season, although we didn't make it to playoffs. Now my last season is just around the corner and I think the whole team is ready to finish what we started and to give it our 100% best. We are determined to make it to playoffs this year and hopefully the hard work pays off. I have learned many new things such as working in a team as well as learning to communicate. I can't wait to see what new challenges we will overcome as a team this last season.

LHS Track & FieldI joined the Track and Field team my sophomore year, because my friends told me it would be fun. I hated it at first and well I still do, its a love, hate, type of thing. The first year I ran long distance, such as the 800m, but towards the end of the season I leaned more into short distance. Next thing you know, I was running the 200m sprint. My junior year I wanted to try something new, I wanted to try the field events. Since our school doesn't have a track field, or any equipment, it was very hard to practice. I signed up for the Discus and long jump events, and although I didn't enjoy discus as much, I continued to do the long jump event. I can honestly say that this is the hardest sport I've ever done but crossing the finish line and giving it your best always makes it worth the run.

Central Valley Recreational Swim Leage (CVRSL) - Lindsay SkimmersThe Lindsay Skimmers team is a swim team that is in the Central Valley Recreational Swim League. When I first joined this team, I was only 10, and ever since, I have been swimming for that team every summer. My cousin was the one who had dared me to join the team, and I accepted his offer, which I'm glad I did. Out of all three sports I've done, this has definitely been my favorite one. I've made it to the All-Star Valley Finals 3 years in a row now, and even though I never placed the highest, I would always improve my times by a lot. I swam in high school my freshmen year but I didn't enjoy it as much as this team, so that's why my sophomore year I decided to try a new sport during the spring season. I have met so many people from different cities because of this sport and I'm really glad that I have.

Acro-yoga & GymWith acro-yoga comes the skill of perseverance, overcoming situations, communication, and most importantly a positive mindset. When my partner and I decided to give it a try, and let me tell you, it was a complete failure. There was anger, miscommunication, and frustration. I woke up the next day full of bruises due to all the times I had fallen. Even though I was full of bruises, we decided to keep trying; we figured might as well do it for fun after our gym workouts. We both never thought we’d get to the point we are now. I’ve learned so many skills with acro-yoga, skills that a student is not able to learn by sitting in a classroom taking notes, or by being at home babysitting. The skill of perseverance was one of the many skills that I gained wit acro-yoga. I continuously worked towards many goals without giving up, despite the delay in achieving success; it took countless hours to try and get a pose right. I also learned that just because we couldn’t get a pose right, didn’t mean we couldn’t try it a different way than what the videos explained. In life, there are many different ways to get around a problem or situation.
